About Care Residence Guide
We are an independently operated senior living directory built on a single principle: families deserve clear, accurate, and unbiased information when choosing care for the people they love most.
Why we built this
Finding senior living is one of the most consequential decisions a family will face — and one that often happens under time pressure, with limited information, and significant emotional weight. Yet most available resources either push families toward facilities that pay referral fees or present generic information that does not reflect the realities of care quality on the ground.
Care Residence Guide was built to fix that. We publish transparent pricing ranges, display state inspection data, and only list facilities that meet our verification standards. We do not accept referral fees from facilities, and our editorial ratings are never for sale.
Our team brings backgrounds in healthcare administration, elder law, and consumer advocacy. We have firsthand experience with the difficulty of navigating senior care options for family members, and that experience drives the way we build and maintain this directory.
Our vetting process
Every facility in our directory goes through a five-step verification process before its listing is published. We repeat this process periodically and whenever a facility's ownership, licensing status, or care model changes.
- 1
License verification
We confirm each facility holds a current, active license from its state licensing agency before the listing goes live.
- 2
Inspection history review
We review publicly available state survey and inspection reports, flagging any facilities with unresolved deficiencies in resident care, safety, or administration.
- 3
Contact and pricing confirmation
A member of our team contacts each facility to verify the address, phone number, and pricing information displayed on the listing is current.
- 4
Care level alignment
We verify that the care levels offered (assisted living, memory care, etc.) match what the facility is licensed to provide.
- 5
Ongoing monitoring
Listings are re-verified periodically and when we receive reports of changes in ownership, licensing status, or care quality.
What disqualifies a facility from being listed
We turn down or remove listings when a facility does not meet our minimum standards. Facilities are not listed if they have:
- Active state license with no open enforcement actions
- No sustained findings of immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety within the past 24 months
- Accurate contact and pricing information provided
- Willingness to participate in Care Residence Guide's transparency standards
Editorial independence
Care Residence Guide generates revenue through clearly labeled sponsored listings and advertising. Sponsored content is marked as "Featured Partner" and does not influence our editorial ratings, vetting decisions, or placement in organic search results.
We do not accept commissions or referral fees for connecting families with facilities. Our ratings reflect verified information and user feedback, not commercial relationships.
What you will find in our directory
Verified listings
Every assisted living, independent living, memory care, and nursing home listing is manually verified before publication.
Transparent pricing
We publish real price ranges — not "call for pricing" — so families can assess affordability before making contact.
Educational resources
Detailed guides to each care type help families understand their options before they begin their search.
